Could I sue the doctor if...?

my husband surgery to get a hernia repaired on July 15th. It is now august 28th, and it is still draining. He went into the doctor today to get it looked at and the mesh they used to reinforce the area is infected. He has been on two different antibiotics since the surgery and that was before we found out the mesh was infected. Can we sue considering he cant clean something inside his body, andthe doctor was supposed to make sure the mesh was sterilized.
