Is this too cynical an attitude towards the BP Oil Spill?

I don't even mind the disaster. I live in Galveston, and of course I just got unemployed because tourisim is down 98%. And our fishing industry is gone. But the thing that upsets me is that this was BRITISH PETROLEUM Drilling in our waters and shippping it to ENGLAND. How is that a good thing? I thought all this drilling was suppose to lower the cost of my gas, but instead, the Brits are stealing it for pennies on the dollar and face a mere 75 million dollar fine.
