Need list of small words unknown to early EFL learners (3 or 4 years of English)?

I will be doing a project in which I will be testing how EFL children figure out words from context. For this I will need a lot of words which are one or two syllable words which are not part of their curriculum. Unfortunately, the test subjects are coming from many different schools, and there is no one common vocabulary list for this. These 7th grade children are learning English since 3rd or fourth grades in a country where English is not an official language but is widespread in films, music, etc. The words should not be too obscure, referring to the volcanic ash on a Pacific mountain or something like that, or some extinct bird. I was thinking of words which would be synonyms of words they already know such as unknown "coy" instead of known "shy", or unknown "wager" instead of known "bet", or at least words that can be easily defined. If they are words which are even unknown to many native speakers, that might also be OK as long as I had access to the definition. So, either any suggestions you have for individual words, or any good links. Do not refer me to a book in a library; I am not near an English-language library.
