How do I change the size of a baby beanie crochet pattern?

I have a baby beanie crochet pattern for size 0-3 months. How do I change the size to fit 3-6 months? Do I add one more increase row or use a bigger hook instead? And would I add two increase rows or use a bigger hook to make it fit 6-12 months?
