Why does my fuel pump cut out? 1988 bronco?

I have a 1988 full size bronco. My in tank fuel pump will stop working after driving just over a mile, after that I have to wait a long time before it will work again. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel relay, eec relay, fuel filter. The only thing I can think of next is to replace the wiring and wiring harness.
